About This Pepper
Beaver Dam is Hungarian heirloom brought to Wisconsin by Joe Hussli family. Rating 0-500 SHU makes it sweet with barely perceptible heat. These peppers are traditionally pickled Hungarian-style or fried. The flavor is remarkably sweet. Nearly lost to cultivation, preserved by Seed Savers Exchange. Fruits ripen from green to orange to red. All stages are edible and delicious. Very productive plants. The sweet flavor intensifies when fried. Important piece of Hungarian-American heritage. Excellent for canning and preserving.
