Cheese Pepper is unique Amish heirloom named for resemblance to wheel of cheese. Rating 0-500 SHU makes it sweet with minimal heat. The flattened pumpkin-like shape is distinctive. Traditional use is pickling and stuffing. The flavor is sweet and slightly tangy. Orange color when ripe. Thick walls hold up well to stuffing. Nearly lost heirloom preserved by seed savers. The unusual shape makes them conversation piece. Excellent pickled or fresh in salads.
