About This Pepper
Hungarian Wax Peppers (also called Hot Wax Peppers) are medium-heat peppers with wide Scoville range of 1,000-15,000 SHU. These waxy, yellow peppers can vary significantly in heat, with some being quite mild and others packing more punch. They start pale yellow and ripen to orange then red, becoming hotter and sweeter as they mature. The smooth, waxy skin gives them their name. Commonly pickled in Eastern European cuisine, they’re also great fresh in salads or stuffed. The flavor is tangy and bright with moderate heat that builds gradually.
